A social media post celebrating Peter Obi’s humility and servant-leadership style has ignited a flurry of reactions online, particularly drawing criticism from human rights activist Deji Adeyanju.
The post, shared by Yunusa Tanko, spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, featured a photo of Peter Obi serving food to staff and supporters at a recent event. Tanko lauded Obi’s actions, describing them as a reflection of genuine humility and exemplary leadership. He wrote:
“This is the hallmark of good and servant leadership—one who serves the people, even his staff. It is not for show; it’s naturally inbuilt… Obidients, let’s stay focused. PO is coming… A New Nigeria is possible.”
However, the post did not sit well with Deji Adeyanju, who slammed the gesture as superficial and politically motivated.
“Is this what we’ve reduced leadership contests to in Nigeria—serving food?” Adeyanju asked in a pointed response.
He added, “How long will these people keep up this childishness? A 419 strategy that failed in 2023 won’t work in 2027. They need to change their style and approach.”
