9 Killed and 4 Injured as Boko Haram Launches Fresh Attacks Borno

At least nine people were killed and four others injured in a fresh attack by Boko Haram insurgents in Malam Fatori, located in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State. The assault occurred on Saturday and has prompted swift response from the state government.

In a statement released by the Borno State Government, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who is currently abroad on official duty, dispatched a delegation to sympathize with the victims and their families. The team was led by the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele.

We are here on behalf of His Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, to condole with the people of Malam Fatori following the unfortunate attack,” Mele stated. “The governor has assured that both the state government and the military are committed to enhancing the town’s security.”

Highlighting the strategic significance of Malam Fatori, the commissioner emphasized the government’s dedication to restoring stability in the area. He called on residents to remain resilient and prayerful, and he warned against any form of collaboration with insurgents, stressing that such acts would incur severe spiritual consequences.

As part of immediate relief efforts, the state government provided financial assistance to the victims. Each bereaved family received ₦500,000, while the injured victims were given ₦250,000 each. The government also plans to deploy excavators to dig trenches around the local government headquarters to deter further insurgent attacks.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, announced a new resettlement plan for displaced residents. According to him, 3,000 additional households will soon be resettled in Malam Fatori, raising the total number of resettled households to 5,000.

Previously, 2,000 households had been resettled. We are now working on resettling another 3,000 households. The government is committed to providing the required security and infrastructure to ensure these families can live safely in their homeland,” Tar said.
