It seems the Lagos Speakership tussle isn’t over yet. Olori Oko has given a direct order for Meranda to step down.
All the Honourable members met with the Governor at Lagos House, Marina, on February 22nd, 2025.
It’s still unclear who Olori Oko wants to take the Speaker’s position. Bringing back Obasa could cause a serious revolt, but if it’s someone else, I think they’ll accept the decision and move on. A little bit of financial persuasion can go a long way.
Yesterday’s meeting was led by Baba Bisi Akande and Aremo Segun Osoba. Interestingly, no GAC members were present. The meeting continues today. Apparently, the lawmakers have been told that Obasa is definitely out of the running.
We’ll see how this plays out!
