JUST IN: 2 Inspectors Killed as Gunmen Ambush Police Patrol Team in Jos

A team of police officers on routine patrol was attacked on Tuesday in Jos Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of two inspectors.

The officers, identified as Inspector Fatoye Femi and Inspector Dafur Dashit, were part of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force.

They were attacked around 7:30 pm by assailants believed to be robbers or kidnappers.

During the exchange of gunfire, police apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Auwal Ali from Angwang Doki Bukuru.

In response to the attack, the Superintendent of Police for ‘B’ Division and his team were deployed to the scene to restore order and prevent further violence.

A situation report obtained by SaharaReporters confirmed the incident, stating: “At about 7:30 pm, a team of police personnel attached to the IRT Department, while on routine patrol along Little Rayfield Road in Jos South LGA, were attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers or kidnappers.”

Authorities have intensified efforts to track down the remaining attackers.
