On the 9th day of Ramadan, a special supplication is traditionally recited to seek Allah’s expansive mercy, guidance, and satisfaction. The supplication is as follows:
“O Allah, on this day, grant me a share from Your boundless mercy, guide me towards Your clear proofs, and lead me to Your all-encompassing pleasure, by Your love, O the hope of those who long for fulfillment.”
This prayer reflects a deep yearning for divine mercy, enlightenment, and alignment with Allah’s will, embodying the spiritual aspirations of the holy month.

“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them…”
This verse encourages believers to call upon Allah using His divine attributes, fostering a more intimate and profound relationship with the Creator during this blessed month.

*Ramadhan 1446AH Nuggets*
*Is Continuous Fasting Permissible?*
Narrated Abu Hurairah:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade us from practicing *wisal in fasting (i.e. fasting continuously without breaking one’s fast in the evening or eating before the following dawn)*. So a man said to him, ‘But you practice wisal O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!’ The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) replied, “ *Which one of you is like me? I am given food and drink during my sleep by Allah*.” So when people refused to stop wisal, the Prophet ﷺ fasted day and night continuously along with them for a day and then another day and then they saw the crescent (of the new month of Shawwal). The Prophet ﷺ said to them, ” *If the crescent had not appeared, I would have made you fast for a longer period*.” That was a punishment for them because they refused to stop (practicing Wisal).

*NOTES 📝*
1. Al-Wisal, Fasting continually, is when a person fasts for two or more days without breaking the fast, i.e., the fast continues all night and the person does not eat or drink. The Prophet ﷺ did this personally but forbade it for the Muslims for the reasons stated in the hadith.
2. We learn from the hadith that it’s not desirable to practice al-Wisal while fasting either as a show of strength of body or eeman (faith) because it contradicts the Sunnah.
3. Ibn Kathir also commented in the Tafsir of Surah al-Baqarah ayah 187 that: “The prohibition of Al-Wisal was also mentioned in a number of other narrations. It is a fact that practicing Al-Wisal was one of the special qualities of the Prophet ﷺ, for he was capable and assisted in his practice of it. It is obvious that the food and drink that the Prophet ﷺ used to get while practicing Al-Wisal was spiritual and not material, otherwise he would not be practicing Al-Wisal.”
