The Nigerian Army has begun deploying troops to the Rivers State Government House following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
Under the directive, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, State Assembly members, and other government officials have been suspended from office for six months as part of efforts to contain the escalating political crisis in Rivers.
New Leadership Appointed
In place of the suspended government, President Tinubu has appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) as the Administrator of Rivers State for the duration of the emergency rule.
This move comes amid rising tensions and political instability in the state, prompting the federal government to take drastic action to restore order.
