#TCN Restores Power Supply to Lagos, Upgrades Agbara Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has fully restored bulk power supply to Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies after completing repairs on the 330kV Osogbo-Omotosho transmission line. The repair, addressing a snapped line between towers 420 and 422, was completed at 8:55 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, confirmed that the restoration has ended the load-shedding issues cased by the outage. She also expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government, the affected DisCos, and electricity consumers for their patience during the disruption.

Agbara Substation Upgrade Underway

Meanwhile, TCN has commenced an upgrade of its Agbara 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Ogun State. The project involves replacing two 45MVA transformers with 100MVA units to boost the substation’s capacity from 150MVA to 260MVA.

To minimize disruption, TCN is replacing one transformer at a time while keeping the second in operation. Upon completion, three additional feeders will be installed, enabling Eko Electricity Distribution Company to enhance supply to the Agbara industrial area.

Mbah assured consumers that any temporary load shedding during the upgrade will be minimal and that normal power supply will be restored as soon as the work is completed.
