#Tinubu Congratulates Canada’s New Prime Minister Mark Carney

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Mr. Mark Joseph Carney on his election as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada following the Liberal Party’s victory in the recent parliamentary elections.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the electoral win as a significant achievement, especially at a time when Canada requires experienced leadership.

Carney, a respected economist, previously served as Governor of the Bank of Canada (2008–2013) and the Bank of England (2013–2020). President Tinubu expressed confidence that Carney’s extensive background in finance and governance will serve Canada well during this pivotal period.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Canada, particularly in key areas such as education, climate change, and migration. President Tinubu also expressed his eagerness to foster a forward-looking partnership with Prime Minister Carney’s administration, building on the foundation of cooperation established under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
