Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has predicted an imminent collapse of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that its National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and other former PDP members currently in the ruling party may soon return.
Speaking at the PDP congress held at Aminu Kano Triangle in Jigawa State, Lamido expressed confidence in the PDP’s resurgence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I am confident that everyone who left the PDP will come back — including Ganduje. The APC is an unstable alliance of individuals with conflicting interests, and it will soon implode,” Lamido declared.
He added, “Within six months, many of those who defected to the APC will return. The PDP will rise again with renewed strength to reclaim power in 2027.”
Lamido downplayed recent defections from the PDP to the APC, attributing them to fear of political intimidation and pressure rather than loss of faith in the party’s ideals.
“The defections don’t worry us. People are being harassed and intimidated — but that won’t last. Nigeria is a blessed country, but its progress is continually hindered by poor leadership,” he said.
He also cautioned the ruling party against using state machinery to suppress the opposition, warning that such tactics could backfire and fuel political instability.
In his remarks, newly elected PDP chairman in Jigawa State, Hon. Ibrahim Babandi Gumel, echoed Lamido’s sentiments, calling for unity among party members and reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to regaining national leadership in 2027.
