The United States has deported six Nigerians over various criminal offences committed within its territory.
According to Channels Television, sources familiar with the development revealed that the deportation is part of a broader move by the U.S. government to expel at least 3,000 Nigerians implicated in different crimes.
The deportees arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday morning aboard a Delta Airlines flight, which touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, shortly before 9 a.m. They were received by officials from several Nigerian government agencies, who are expected to determine the appropriate steps to take following their return.
This action aligns with ongoing U.S. immigration policies aimed at tightening migration controls. Notably, during the Trump administration, stricter deportation measures were introduced to streamline immigration and remove individuals deemed to be in violation of U.S. laws.
