Abuja, Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday convened a high-profile National Summit at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, reaffirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election and consolidating internal unity under the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Summit Theme and Context
Themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far”, the summit brought together state governors, National Assembly leaders, party executives, and security chiefs to evaluate the administration’s performance and chart a cohesive policy direction as the administration reaches its mid-term milestone.
This is the first National Summit of its kind since the Tinubu-led administration assumed office in May 2023 and marks a symbolic reaffirmation of both leadership and agenda continuity.

Tinubu Endorsed as Sole Candidate
In a major political statement, President Tinubu received unanimous endorsement from the APC leadership as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. The endorsement was formally moved by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and seconded by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
> “President Tinubu has shown capacity, commitment, and courage to steer this nation toward prosperity. The APC stands solidly behind him,” said Akpabio.
The endorsement underscores the party’s confidence in Tinubu’s reform trajectory and aims to forestall intra-party disputes ahead of 2027.

Security Situation and NSA’s Report
Delivering a keynote security report, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu disclosed that over 47,000 Nigerians lost their lives to terrorism and insurgency before the Tinubu administration assumed office.

“We inherited a nation under siege. Banditry, terrorism, and communal violence were rampant. Today, we are making progress—through coordinated military, intelligence, and diplomatic strategies,” Ribadu said.
“This summit marks more than a political gathering—it is a declaration of intent, a signal that Nigeria’s leadership is finally aligning continuity with courage. President Tinubu has not only steadied the ship, he is daring to sail it against the tide of entrenched dysfunction. The National Patriots believe that this is the leadership moment Nigeria has prayed for.” — Dr. G. Fraser, MFR, Founder, The National Patriots
