#JAMB Technical Officers Applaud Registrar Oloyede for Leadership Amid 2025 UTME Glitch

The Chief Technical Advisors (CTAs) to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have praised the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, for his “exemplary leadership” in managing the technical disruptions that affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a letter addressed to Prof. Oloyede, the CTAs expressed their full support and commended his swift, transparent, and accountable handling of the crisis. The letter, signed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, Secretary of the CTAs across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), underscored the Registrar’s integrity and commitment to fairness.

The CTAs are responsible for overseeing the technical coordination of the UTME across the country. They described Oloyede’s response to the glitch—which impacted over 300,000 candidates, particularly in Lagos and the South-East—as a model of professionalism and ethical responsibility.

“You have continued to inspire confidence in the system by demonstrating not just technical competence but a strong moral commitment to justice and fairness,” the letter stated.

They pledged their continued loyalty to the Board and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the credibility and integrity of future examinations. The CTAs also assured the public that steps are being taken to address existing vulnerabilities and reinforce the system against future disruptions.

The group denounced attempts by certain individuals to politicize or inject religious and sectional sentiments into what they described as a purely technical issue.

“Such divisive narratives are counterproductive and undermine the professional efforts being made to strengthen the examination process for all Nigerians,” they said.

Earlier, JAMB had admitted that a software update failure led to a technical glitch during the 2025 UTME, affecting the results of over 370,000 candidates across 157 centres in Lagos and the South-East. Following a review with stakeholders, the Board announced a rescheduled examination for all affected candidates.

The CTAs emphasized that Oloyede’s openness and prompt actions in addressing the issue reflect a deep-rooted commitment to both technical excellence and ethical leadership.
