#FG to Establish Industrial Hubs in Four States to Boost Manufacturing and Economic Growth

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to establish industrial hubs in Lagos, Ogun, Kano, and Abia States as part of its broader strategy to accelerate economic transformation and promote industrialisation nationwide.

This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Enoh, during the 16th National Council on Industry, Trade, and Investment, held recently in Lagos under the theme: “Accelerating Diversification by Leveraging Industry, Trade, and Investment for Shared Prosperity.”

Senator Enoh explained that the new industrial hubs are a core component of the government’s industrialisation drive, spearheaded by the Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG) — a multi-sector initiative launched in February 2025. The IRWG is designed to rejuvenate Nigeria’s industrial landscape through stakeholder collaboration, evidence-based policymaking, and effective implementation.

According to Enoh, this move is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises economic diversification, sustainable development, and transforming Nigeria into a global manufacturing hub. The government aims to tackle persistent challenges such as energy shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and regulatory hurdles to attract investments and foster innovation.

“We are entering an era of full-scale industrialisation where every policy, reform, and investment must contribute to building a globally competitive, inclusive, and innovation-driven economy,” the minister said.

He called on stakeholders — including federal and state governments, the private sector, and development partners — to support the IRWG initiative and help achieve the country’s industrial goals. Enoh stressed the need to move from rhetoric to results by unlocking financing for MSMEs, revitalising dormant industrial zones, and creating job-generating industrial clusters.

“The establishment of these industrial hubs in strategic states like Kano, Abia, Lagos, and Ogun is a calculated effort to tap into regional strengths, stimulate economic activities, and create employment opportunities for millions of Nigerians,” Enoh added.
