Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman, has lauded Governor Uba Sani for restoring public trust in governance just two years into his administration.
Speaking during a media briefing to mark the governor’s second anniversary on Wednesday, Mamman said Governor Sani has reversed many of the unpopular policies of his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and rekindled citizens’ confidence in leadership.
He commended the governor for upholding fairness, equity, and justice across the state, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic differences. According to Mamman, every local government area has seen tangible development under Sani’s leadership, with numerous projects executed across the three senatorial zones.
“One of the major successes of Governor Sani’s administration is the absence of ethno-religious crises, which were once common in the state,” the commissioner noted. “This peace is a direct result of the governor’s consistent commitment to addressing sensitive issues that, if ignored, could have led to unrest.”
Mamman pointed to several corrective measures the governor has taken, including reversing the tuition hike imposed by the previous administration on state-owned tertiary institutions — a move aimed at easing the financial burden on low-income families.
“He hit the ground running,” Mamman said. “He brought governance back to the people, especially the rural communities that had been neglected. Infrastructure projects now reach the remotest areas, giving them a sense of inclusion.”
He also highlighted improvements in workers’ welfare, noting that pending entitlements for both serving and retired civil servants have been settled—an unprecedented step in the state’s recent history.
“In a show of justice and reconciliation, traditional leaders deposed by the past government have been reinstated in recognition of their vital role in grassroots security,” Mamman added.
The commissioner further praised the governor for returning unjustly demolished or seized properties and shops to their rightful owners, saying it signaled a return to fairness and respect for the rule of law.
“Today, people are once again proud of their government after enduring what many considered a difficult era,” Mamman said. “I urge all citizens of Kaduna State to continue supporting our governor with prayers and goodwill, especially against the ill intentions of those who do not wish our state well.”
