Meghan Markle ‘Terrified’ to Bring Children to UK Amid Ongoing Security Fears

Meghan Markle remains “terrified” about returning to the United Kingdom with her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, according to sources close to the Duchess. She has not visited the UK since 2022, following Prince Harry’s legal battle over the family’s downgraded security status.

The Duke of Sussex had challenged the UK Government’s decision to reduce their taxpayer-funded protection after stepping down as working royals in 2020. Last month, he lost his appeal at the High Court and later described the outcome in a BBC interview as “a good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up.” Despite the defeat, Harry expressed his desire to reconcile with his family, saying, “I would love a reconciliation.”

However, insiders suggest that a family return remains unlikely due to Meghan’s ongoing concerns. “She’s still terrified of putting her kids at risk by coming back to the UK—any parent would panic in Meghan’s shoes,” the source said. “Even though Harry deeply misses his father, especially after events like Trooping the Colour and Father’s Day, security will likely always be a stumbling block.”

Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe echoed these concerns, stating that Meghan’s fears are justified. “The threats are real and genuine,” he said, adding that it’s understandable the Duchess feels apprehensive about bringing her children into an environment where she feels their safety isn’t fully assured.
