Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, has passed away, less than a year after ascending the throne. He died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after marking his 90th birthday.
Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin officially became Olubadan on July 12, 2024, when he received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde. He succeeded the late Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.
Before becoming Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin held the prestigious chieftaincy title of Balogun Olubadan, the position from which he ascended the throne.
According to the traditional succession structure, former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, is next in line to become the new Olubadan.
