President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Kano State to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman and renowned businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in June.
The president touched down in Kano on the afternoon of Friday, July 18, 2025, and was received by an official delegation that included representatives of Governor Abba Yusuf, top government functionaries, and traditional leaders.
The visit was earlier confirmed by Sunusi Bature, spokesperson to Governor Yusuf, who said Tinubu would be in the state to express condolences to both the Dantata family and the people of Kano over the passing of the legendary philanthropist.
Dantata, who died at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was widely respected for his business acumen and generosity. An uncle to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, he was a key figure in Nigeria’s business landscape, with major investments in real estate, agriculture, and industry.
Beyond business, Dantata was celebrated for his philanthropy—most notably donating N1.5 billion in 2024 to victims of the devastating flood in Maiduguri, Borno State.
President Tinubu’s visit underscores the national significance of Dantata’s legacy and his enduring impact on Nigerian society.
