Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has voiced strong disapproval of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are simultaneously aligning with a new opposition coalition using the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the 2027 general elections.

Several senior PDP figures are reportedly part of this emerging coalition. The group recently adopted the ADC as its official vehicle ahead of the next election cycle.
Among the prominent figures to leave the PDP is former Vice President and the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who announced his resignation last week. Citing irreconcilable differences and a deviation from the party’s core values, Atiku said he could no longer remain within the PDP under its current trajectory.
Before Atiku’s departure, former Senate President David Mark had also exited the party. He has since been named the interim chairman of the ADC-led coalition.

However, others—such as former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal—have not formally resigned from the PDP, raising concerns about dual loyalties within the party.
Speaking at the PDP Stakeholders’ Conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Governor Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, declared that party members must make a clear choice and not affiliate with two political platforms at once.

“We cannot tolerate indiscipline to the point where it spreads like a disease,” he said. “If you are in PDP, stay in PDP. You cannot belong to PDP and also to a coalition or another party.”
He added, “This coalition is an aberration. Let me be clear—you cannot belong to two political homes. You cannot be a hermaphrodite; you cannot be a man and a woman at the same time.”
