President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC), backed by a coalition of opposition groups, as a “coalition of confusion.”
Speaking at the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu said it was not unreasonable for politicians to abandon a “sinking ship,” in reference to those defecting from opposition parties.
The president also expressed appreciation to the immediate past APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, acknowledging his contributions to the party. He revealed that Ganduje was tasked with establishing a progressive institute, which he successfully delivered.
“I assigned him the responsibility of forming a progressive institute. The National Secretary will now work with the new chairman to revitalise it, and we can still engage Ganduje as a consultant on the project,” Tinubu stated.
He further explained the party’s decision to reschedule its ward, local government, and state congresses to December, noting that the move is aimed at accommodating an influx of new members expected to join the APC in the coming months.
