Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has made a bold forecast ahead of the 2027 presidential election, ranking the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the likely winner, followed by Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and placing his own party—the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—in fourth place.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television on Friday, July 25, 2025, Fayose described the PDP as a shadow of its former self, asserting that it no longer has the capacity to challenge the APC at the national level.
“The PDP as it stands today is just a carcass—its spirit and soul are gone. I can confidently say APC will come first, Obi will come second, ADC third, and PDP fourth,” he said, adding that the host could “take that prediction to the bank.”
He further alleged that many defectors from the PDP who are now in the ADC joined not out of genuine ambition to win elections, but to fragment the opposition vote.
“Most of those in ADC are former PDP members. They’re not there to win—they’re there for selfish reasons, just to weaken the opposition,” he claimed.
Fayose also commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating that his performance so far makes him a formidable candidate for re-election.
“Tinubu has done well, and removing him in 2027 will be extremely difficult. The opposition is simply too disorganized to mount any serious challenge.”
He criticized the PDP’s inability to resolve its internal issues and said that aligning with the party now feels like a liability.
“This PDP cannot achieve anything significant in a general election. It’s too weak and compromised,” he concluded.
Fayose’s remarks are expected to fuel political discussions and stir reactions within the PDP and other opposition blocs, as Nigeria’s 2027 presidential race begins to take shape amid shifting alliances.
