Over 1.9 Million Nigerians Apply for Paramilitary Jobs as FG Closes Recruitment Portal

The Federal Government has officially closed the nationwide recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Fire Service, Immigration Service, Civil Defence Corps, and Correctional Service, with a staggering 1,911,769 applications submitted for just 30,000 available positions.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced the closure on Monday, August 11, 2025, via the official X handle of the Federal Fire Service. The board expressed appreciation to all applicants for their enthusiasm and dedication to national service.

“The official recruitment portal for the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board is now closed. We thank all applicants for their interest and commitment to serving with honour, integrity and national pride,” the statement read in part.

According to the CDCFIB, shortlisted candidates will be contacted in the coming weeks. Applicants have been advised to monitor their email and phone messages, as well as check the portal and official social media channels regularly for updates.

Data from the portal shows that Kogi State recorded the highest number of applicants with 116,217 submissions, followed by Kaduna with 114,572. Bayelsa State had the lowest number of applications at 11,676.

The application process began on July 14 after being rescheduled from the initial start date of June 26. Although the deadline was first set for August 4, it was later extended to August 11 to give more Nigerians the opportunity to apply.
