The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs) and 12 Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs), alongside the promotion of 3,312 senior officers across various ranks.
The decision was taken at the Board’s 63rd regular meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.
According to a statement by Customs spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada, the appointments fill management vacancies created by recent retirements and were made in line with the Federal Character Policy under Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
New Appointments
The newly appointed DCGs are:

The new ACGs include: MP Binga, CA Awo, AB Shuaibu, AT Abe, K Mohammed, B Mohammed, TM Daniyan, B Oramalugo, OP Olaniyan, B Olomu, IK Oladeji, and CC Dim.
Promotions
In addition, 3,312 senior officers were promoted from Comptroller of Customs (CC) to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II). The NCS Management also approved the elevation of 202 junior officers during its 6th management meeting on August 29, 2025.
Revenue Performance
The Board reviewed the Service’s revenue collection for the first half of 2025, which stood at ₦3.68 trillion, surpassing projections by ₦390.2 billion (11.85%). The figure represents 55.93% of the annual target achieved within six months, attributed to reforms, technology deployment, and improved stakeholder compliance.
Operational Updates
Progress on the Trade Modernisation Project was also highlighted, with achievements including:

Deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) codenamed B’Odogwu

Arrival of six scanners including an FS6000 model

Procurement of Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) equipment

Establishment of a Centralised Image Analysis System (CIAS)

Strengthened cybersecurity architecture and multi-channel helpdesk

Expanded stakeholder onboarding and capacity-building programmes
Disciplinary Actions
The Board also approved the demotion of two officers for misconduct, while granting reinstatement to two others after reviewing their cases.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), congratulated all appointees and promoted officers, charging them to justify the confidence reposed in them. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, transparency, and excellence.
