TODAY (FRIDAY) JUMMAT 12 Rabi ul Awal, 1447AH (5TH September 2025)

Supporting the Family (an-Nafaqaat)

Narrated Umu Salama:

I said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Shall I get a reward (in the Hereafter) if I spend on the children of Abu Salama and do not leave them like this and like this (i.e., poor) but treat them like my children?” The Prophet said, “Yes, you will be rewarded for that which you will spend on them.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5369

NOTE 📝

1. Imam al-Bukhari collected this hadith under the chapter heading “And on the heir is incumbent the like of that …” The Prophet ﷺ encouraged giving charity and explained that the best charity is that which is given to needy relatives. In this way, spending fulfills its role in mutual support and helping those in need, while also strengthening the ties of kinship.

2. al-Hafidh Ibn Hajar stated in his commentary of this hadith that the ayah “وعلى الوارث مثل ذلك” (“And on the heir is incumbent the like of that …”) was interpreted differently by scholars; some saw it as avoiding harm, others as obliging heirs to cover child expenses if the father dies. However, al-Hafidh posits that the stronger view, supported by hadith such as the Prophet’s ﷺ response to Umu Salama that her spending on her children was rewarded but not obligatory and his ruling for Hind bint ʿUtbah to take from her husband’s wealth, shows that financial responsibility lies on the father, not the mother. Thus, a mother’s spending is voluntary and virtuous, not required, and the verse is best understood as addressing fairness and preventing harm rather than imposing full financial duties on heirs. – Fathul Baari, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani

3. Among the lessons from this hadith is that a mother (parent) is rewarded for spending on her children even if done out of natural compassion, that caring for orphans in one’s care carries great virtue, that the mother’s deep mercy toward her children is highlighted, and that it is recommended for leaders to encourage men and women alike to engage in good deeds.

O Allah! Provide us with lawful (halal), pure, and sufficient sustenance. Enrich us with Your grace, needing nothing from anyone besides You. Make us content with Your provisions, and place blessings in our family and children. Ãmeen

How to Use This

This duʿa can be read collectively after Jumuʿah, or privately at home.

If you’re leading a gathering, read it slowly and let people respond with Āmīn.

You can add salawat repetitions between sections to give it a spiritual rhythm.

A simple duʿa and salawat collection you can recite after Jumuʿah on 12th Rabiʿ al-Awwal (or any day, really).

Salawat (Sending Blessings on the Prophet ﷺ)

Translation:
O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.

This is the most authentic salawat (known as Salat al-Ibrahimiyya), recited in every salah.

Short Duʿa for Guidance and Mercy

Translation:
O Allah, make us among the followers of Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in this world. Gather us in his company on the Day of Judgment. Grant us his intercession, and grant us Paradise with him by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

Extra Short Salawat for Repetition

Arabic:

> صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَسَلَّمَ

Translation:
May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon Muhammad.

You can repeat this many times—especially on Fridays.

After Jumuʿah prayer, sit quietly, recite salawat at least 11, 33, or 100 times.

End with the duʿa above, asking Allah for closeness to the Prophet ﷺ.

If you have family, encourage them to join—it builds love for the Prophet ﷺ in the home.

On 12th Rabiʿ al-Awwal, which is widely observed as the day of the Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) birth (Mawlid al-Nabi), special Jumuʿah (Friday) prayers or gatherings are often held in many communities.
What usually happens today.

1. Regular Jumuʿah Prayer

The standard Friday khutbah (sermon) and congregational prayer are performed as usual.

Many khatibs (speakers) dedicate their sermon to discussing the life, character, and teachings of the Prophet ﷺ.

Emphasis is placed on Seerah (Prophetic biography), compassion, and following the Sunnah.

2. Additional Gatherings (Depends on Tradition)

In many places, especially South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, mosques may hold special Mawlid gatherings before or after Jumuʿah.

These include recitation of Qur’an, poetry (naʿat/qasidah) in praise of the Prophet ﷺ, and collective duʿa (supplication).

Some communities light up mosques, distribute food, or arrange charity in his honor.

3. Duʿa and Dhikr

Muslims often make extra duʿa on this day, praying for guidance, forgiveness, and to live according to the Prophet’s example.

Many engage in salawat (sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ) abundantly, as this is strongly encouraged in Islam.

There is no specific prescribed prayer in Islam for 12th Rabiʿ al-Awwal beyond the regular Jumuʿah. The additional practices are cultural and vary by region. Some scholars encourage them as a form of remembering the Prophet ﷺ, while others caution against innovations. The safe and universally accepted practice is to:

Attend Jumuʿah properly.

Engage in Qur’an recitation, salawat, and charity.

Reflect on the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings.

Assalamu alaikum. Daily Nasiha! O Son of Adam Be Righteous For Indeed Allah Is Just And Merciful. Man in himself is weak, he must seek Allah’s Grace because without it he can do nothing, with it he can do much. Surely Allah is Just and when His servants are dutiful to Him they will be blessed with His grace and mercy and if they reject Allah, they must suffer the Penalty. “He will admit To His Mercy Whom He will; For the wrongdoers- For them has He prepared A grievous Penalty.”(Q76:31). Allah knows all things, and His wisdom comprehends the good of all. Wouldn’t you be good for your salvation? May Allah enable us to be righteous and make our ending successful amin. Eid-el-Maulud Message

MAY THIS EID-EL-MAULUD INSPIRE US TO BUILD A MORE PEACEFUL, UNITED, AND PROSPEROUS NATION.

On this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, we extend our warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria. May this day of reflection bring peace, joy, and renewed faith to every heart.

As we commemorate the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), let us reflect deeply on his timeless teachings of compassion, justice, humility, patience, and unity. These values are not only guiding lights for our faith, but also enduring lessons for us as leaders, politicians, and citizens: to serve with humility, uphold justice, and work selflessly for the collective good.

In this sacred season, we pray that Allah (SWT) guides our leaders towards a people-focused government — one that ensures peace, stability, and progress. Let us continue building a nation that reflects the noble values of the Prophet (SAW): by empowering our youth with quality education, strengthening healthcare for all, expanding economic opportunities, fostering interfaith harmony and tolerance, and developing infrastructure for a brighter future.

We must also pray for Nigeria to overcome the forces of instability and division — both within and outside our borders. Let us embrace the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience, rejecting violence, hatred, and mistrust. Together, we can nurture sustainable peace, harmony, and collective prosperity for all.

May this Eid-el-Maulud renew our faith, strengthen our unity, and inspire us to build a Nigeria that truly reflects the values of our revered Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Happy Eid-el-Maulud!
