Primate Ayodele Urges Tinubu to Prioritise Food Security Over Road Projects

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church (IESC) Worldwide, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to channel more government resources into tackling Nigeria’s worsening food crisis rather than focusing heavily on road construction projects.

In a video posted on the church’s official Facebook page, Ayodele emphasised that food security should be the government’s foremost priority if it hopes to earn the trust and support of Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“All these money you are using to do road, use it to provide food,” Ayodele said. “Let Nigeria eat morning, afternoon, and night. You will see that they will vote for you. But when you are making it difficult, they won’t vote for you — and rigging will not even work.”

The cleric noted that millions of Nigerians are currently struggling with soaring food prices and worsening economic hardship, arguing that stabilising food supply and affordability would have a more immediate impact than “flashy infrastructural projects.”

Ayodele also cautioned against the federal government’s increasing dependence on borrowing, warning that mounting debt without resolving basic economic challenges could heighten the country’s financial instability.

He stressed that hunger and hardship could not be masked by political propaganda or intimidation, warning that the 2027 polls could be tense and possibly violent if the government fails to address citizens’ needs.

“Only divine intervention can avert chaos in 2027,” he warned.

According to the cleric, Nigerians expect policies that directly improve their daily lives, not long-term capital projects that fail to meet urgent survival needs.

With food insecurity deepening nationwide, Ayodele’s comments add to mounting pressure on the Tinubu administration to prioritise welfare-driven policies over grand political gestures.
