‘Resolved Amicably’: Sanwo-Olu Meets Lawyer Who Sued Him for Blocking on X

Human rights lawyer, Festus Ogun, has met with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, days after dragging him to court for blocking him on X (formerly Twitter).

Ogun announced on Saturday that the governor had unblocked him following a brief meeting at Lagos House, Marina.
“Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unblocked me on X (Twitter). I met briefly with him yesterday at Lagos House, Marina, on his invitation, to amicably resolve my complaint of human rights violations. We will continue to hold authorities accountable, regardless. Aluta continua!” Ogun wrote on his handle.

The activist emphasized that the dialogue did not mean watchdog efforts would ease, stressing that holding leaders accountable remains a civic duty.

Governor Sanwo-Olu has not issued a formal statement on the meeting.

Recall that on August 29, 2025, Ogun sued the governor at the Federal High Court, arguing that being blocked on X for about three years violated his constitutional right to freedom of expression.

In the suit, Ogun sought an order compelling Sanwo-Olu to unblock him and issue a public apology. He explained that while the block had caused him emotional stress, he deliberately avoided seeking monetary damages to prevent being perceived as a “gold digger.”

“My only request was simple: just unblock me,” he said.
