CJN to Inaugurate 57 New Senior Advocates of Nigeria.

On Monday, September 29, 2025, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will swear in 57 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) at the Supreme Court’s Main Courtroom in Abuja.

Dr. Festus Akande, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Supreme Court, announced on Sunday that the ceremony marks the official start of the 2025/2026 legal year. During the event, the CJN will deliver a State of the Judiciary address, reviewing the Supreme Court’s performance in the 2024/2025 legal year and outlining developments in the Nigerian judiciary.

Key justice sector stakeholders, including the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, will also speak, addressing critical issues in justice administration and necessary reforms.

The Supreme Court, which began its annual vacation on July 21, 2025, after a “remarkably successful” 2024/2025 legal year, will commence all related programmes at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

On July 24, 2025, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee approved 57 lawyers for the SAN rank, with 56 being practising advocates and one an academic.
