Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso can return to the party, but only if he adheres strictly to its constitution. In an interview with BBC Hausa, Ganduje emphasized that the APC will not grant special privileges to returning members, and those who previously left must face the consequences of their decisions.
Recent reports claimed Kwankwaso contacted APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda about a potential defection, but Kwankwaso denied these allegations, calling them unfounded. Ganduje remarked that Kwankwaso’s return would be akin to “licking his vomit,” implying he must acknowledge past errors to rejoin the party.
Commenting on the APC’s status in Kano, Ganduje confirmed that internal conflicts have been resolved. He noted that a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja reviewed the party’s 2023 election performance and praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. Ganduje also dismissed rumors of a rift with Tinubu, affirming their strong relationship and the Kano APC’s commitment to supporting the president while aiming to reclaim the state in 2027.
