Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger move to unmask Nigerian politicians aiding bandits

Intelligence agencies from Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso are set to disclose the identities of prominent Nigerian politicians allegedly backing bandit groups in Nigeria’s North-West, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Officials from these agencies claim they have already identified several politicians suspected of aiding these criminal networks. They also report that individuals involved in supplying arms to the bandits have been detained, with investigations ongoing.

This initiative is part of a broader regional push to disrupt cross-border criminal networks driving insecurity in West Africa. It reflects heightened cooperation among Sahelian states, particularly in combating armed groups and illegal arms trafficking across borders.
