Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have arrested Mohammed Dankani, a 57-year-old notorious bandit kingpin known as ‘Akki’, who has been terrorizing parts of Zamfara State. The suspect, from Kuraje in Bungudu Local Government Area, was apprehended in Funtua, Katsina State, based on intelligence linking him to multiple kidnapping cases.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Maikaba confirmed the arrest during a briefing at the command headquarters in Gusau. Dankani confessed to being part of a gang operating in Tsafe, Yandato, and Yanwarin Daji, and to membership in the Kachalla Dan Goggo Gang, responsible for kidnappings in Damba, Mareri, and Saminaka areas of Gusau LGA.

In related operations, on September 15, police intercepted a Toyota Corolla along the Gummi Sokoto road and recovered four AK-47 rifles, 200 rounds of PKT ammunition, 28 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and four empty magazines hidden in a sack of oranges belonging to Nasiru Dawan Jiya. Jiya admitted the weapons were destined for bandits in Gurusu village.
