An Abuja-based veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, has been killed by suspected kidnappers who also abducted his three children.
Reports indicate that the assailants invaded his residence in the Kubwa district, along the Kubwa–Kaduna road, on Friday night, taking Dr. Ogbu and his children away. His body was later discovered by the roadside.
Confirmation of his death came from Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, who shared the news on his Facebook page, stating that the deceased’s corpse had been found while his three children remain in captivity.
He wrote:
“Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa, Abuja, was found dead.
The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”
The late Dr. Ogbu was described by colleagues as a dedicated and passionate professional. He leaves behind a nursing wife and grieving family members who remain in distress as search efforts continue for his abducted children.
Friends and associates have expressed deep shock over his death, describing it as a tragic loss to both his family and the veterinary community.
The incident comes barely a week after Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, was killed during a robbery in Katampe, another district of Abuja.
As of the time of filing this report, police authorities have not released an official statement. However, investigations are said to be ongoing.
When contacted, the FCT Police Command neither answered calls nor responded to WhatsApp messages.
