Jandor Urges Jonathan to Avoid 2027 Presidential Race Against Tinubu

Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, known as Jandor and the lead visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan against running for president in 2027. Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Lagos warned that Jonathan would face a significant political risk, predicting a likely defeat by President Bola Tinubu, whom he described as a seasoned political strategist.

Adediran argued that Tinubu’s experience and determination, demonstrated by overcoming obstacles to secure the presidency, make him a formidable opponent. He contrasted this with Jonathan’s tenure, suggesting it was less hard-fought, and cautioned that Jonathan’s supporters are misleading him by encouraging a contest. Jandor also noted that Jonathan’s wife, Patience, has similarly advised against running.

Praising Tinubu’s economic reforms, Adediran highlighted the removal of fuel subsidies, which he said has tripled state and local government allocations, enabling greater local impact. He also credited Tinubu with stabilizing the foreign exchange market, curbing corrupt practices. While acknowledging the challenges caused by these reforms, he urged state and local governments to use increased funds to ease public hardship.

Adediran called for continued support for Tinubu, emphasizing his achievements and predicting his re-election in 2027. He also urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to assist in tackling national security challenges to complement the president’s efforts.
