Machado Dedicates Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelans and Trump

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado on Friday dedicated her Nobel Peace Prize to the people of Venezuela — and to U.S. President Donald Trump — for what she described as his “decisive support” for her country’s pro-democracy struggle.

“I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!” Machado wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

She added, “We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve freedom and democracy.”

Machado, 58, has publicly endorsed Trump’s continued campaign of military and diplomatic pressure on President Nicolás Maduro, describing recent U.S. naval deployments near Venezuela as a “necessary measure” to secure a democratic transition.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later reposted Machado’s message on her own X account, amplifying the Venezuelan leader’s tribute.

Several of Machado’s fellow opposition figures also congratulated her on the historic win.

Two-time presidential candidate Henrique Capriles wrote, “May this recognition serve as another boost to achieve peace and for Venezuela to finally overcome its suffering and reclaim the freedom and democracy for which it has fought for so many years.”
