Kano Football Coach Sentenced to Eight Years for Sodomy

A Kano State High Court, led by Justice Musa Dahuru Muhammad, sentenced football coach Hayatu Muhammad to eight years in prison without a fine for sodomizing a minor player. The resident of Sanka, Dala Local Government Area, committed the offense twice at different locations and initially pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution, led by Ibrahim Arif Garba, presented five witnesses to prove the case, while Muhammad testified as his sole defense witness.

The offense violates Section 284 of the Penal Code Law. After reviewing evidence and testimonies, Justice Dahuru convicted Muhammad, sentencing him to four years for each count, to run concurrently from the judgment date.
