Breaking: Bandits Kill Nine, Abduct Several in Coordinated Attacks on Kaduna Communities

On Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, armed bandits launched coordinated attacks in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing nine people and abducting several others. A resident of Birnin Gwari town confirmed the assault, describing it as a well-planned operation.

The bandits surrounded Layin Danauta village in Kuyello Ward, blocking all entry and exit routes while firing indiscriminately. By 7 p.m., after the attackers retreated, nine bodies were recovered, and 13 injured individuals were rushed to hospitals. Several villagers are believed to have been kidnapped, with the full extent of casualties unclear until search and rescue operations resume on Friday morning. Darkness and fear of lingering assailants halted efforts on Thursday night.

The recovered bodies are slated for burial on Friday, likely before or after congregational prayers. No official statement from security agencies or the Kaduna State Government was available at press time, but efforts to secure the release of abducted victims are reportedly underway.
