King Charles Weighs Stripping Prince Andrew of Royal Titles Amid Ongoing Scandals

King Charles is reportedly contemplating removing Prince Andrew’s Duke of York title and expelling him from the Order of the Garter due to persistent controversies, particularly his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, as reported on October 17, 2025.

The decision follows fresh allegations, including claims from Virginia Giuffre’s memoir that Andrew viewed sexual encounters with her as a “birthright,” and emails contradicting his 2019 BBC Newsnight claim of cutting contact with Epstein after 2010. Additionally, Andrew’s meetings with an alleged Chinese “spymaster” have intensified scrutiny.

Despite Charles cutting Andrew’s funding to force him out of Royal Lodge, the Duke’s 2078 lease prevents eviction. Stripping the Dukedom requires Parliamentary approval, a complex process last used during World War I, while removing him from the Garter, where he has been a Knight since 2006, is within Charles’ authority but rare. A YouGov poll shows 67% public support for stripping Andrew’s titles.

Sources indicate Charles aims to resolve “the Andrew problem” to protect the Royal Family’s reputation, though Andrew is unlikely to relinquish his titles without resistance.
