Miss Odama Mary Agado, a 22-year-old hairstylist from Woleche-Ipuole, Yala Local Government Area, Cross River State, reportedly died by suicide in Enugu after discovering her boyfriend with another woman. Sources say Mary, who was thriving in her business and had recently bought a car and rented an apartment for her boyfriend, ingested a poisonous substance, suspected to be sniper, following the incident.

A family source, Daniel, revealed that Mary visited her boyfriend last Friday and found him with another woman in the apartment she had provided. Distraught, she returned to her own apartment, called her mother to share her heartbreak, and hinted at ending her life, asking her mother to accept her decision. Her mother, unable to call back due to lack of airtime, did not alert others until receiving news that Mary had consumed sniper and was rushed to a hospital. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead that evening.

Mary’s body was taken to her village in Yala and buried on Saturday without a customary ceremony due to her young age. The family chose not to involve the police, maintaining that her death was self-inflicted. Daniel expressed grief, noting speculation about spiritual manipulation but emphasizing that no blame could reverse the tragedy.
