INEC Releases Official Notice for Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the notice for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, scheduled to take place on November 8, 2025, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Announcing the development in Awka on Sunday, the state’s INEC Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Ugomma Lechukwu, said the commission’s notice of poll was issued in compliance with relevant sections of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).

“Notice is hereby given that an election to the office of the Governor of Anambra State shall be held on November 8, 2025,” Lechukwu stated.

She explained that voting would begin at 8:30 a.m. and close at 2:30 p.m., emphasizing that each registered voter must cast their ballot at the polling centre where they were originally registered.

Lechukwu further noted that only individuals whose names appear on the official register of voters and who possess valid voter cards will be allowed to vote in the election.

According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a total of 16 candidates are contesting in the gubernatorial race. Out of these, two are female candidates, while 14 are male.

The forthcoming election is expected to be a major political event in Anambra State, drawing significant attention from political observers, parties, and the electorate alike as preparations intensify ahead of the November poll.
