Nigeria Police Recover Two Vehicles Stolen from Netherlands

The Nigeria Police have recovered two vehicles, a 2020 Toyota C-HR and a 2019 Toyota RAV4, stolen from Amsterdam and Midden-Nederland in the Netherlands and illegally shipped to Nigeria. The vehicles, which arrived in Lagos by late 2023 via the Port of Antwerp in Belgium, were tracked by officers from the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, working with Interpol NCB The Hague, in Lagos and Akwa Ibom.

The Federal High Court in Abuja issued a final order for the forfeiture of the vehicles in favor of the Dutch government through the vehicles’ insurance company, enabling their legitimate return to the Netherlands.

The Interpol NCB Abuja team has handed over custody of the vehicles to representatives from the insurance company and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria. Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the Interpol operatives for their professionalism.
