The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the death of Kemi Emmanuel, a respected lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at Federal University Lokoja, killed by a hit-and-run articulated vehicle in Kogi. FRSC Sector Commander Tenimu Etuku called the incident “very sad and unfortunate.”
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday when Emmanuel fell off a commercial motorcycle (Okada) on the highway at Crusher in Lokoja metropolis. A truck then struck her. FRSC’s rescue team rushed her to Kogi State Specialist Hospital, where she was confirmed dead, and her body was deposited in the hospital’s mortuary.
Etuku expressed dismay at the Okada rider’s behavior, who reportedly fled the scene under the pretense of chasing the hit-and-run truck. He urged motorcycle riders to avoid competing with larger vehicles on highways to prevent such tragedies and protect passengers.
