Ekiti Gov Praises Tinubu for Appointing Oluyede as Defence Chief

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing General Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji described the appointment as a recognition of excellence and a source of pride for the people of Ekiti State.

Oluyede, a native of Ikere-Ekiti and former Chief of Army Staff, was among the new Service Chiefs announced on Friday. The governor said his elevation reflects Tinubu’s commitment to merit and national service, praising the President for acknowledging Oluyede’s “exemplary qualities.”

“The government and people of Ekiti State are grateful to President Tinubu for this honour,” Oyebanji said. “We are confident that General Oluyede will excel in his new role and continue to embody the Ekiti values of courage, integrity, and service.”

Describing the new CDS as a gallant and accomplished officer, Oyebanji expressed confidence that Oluyede’s vast military experience would strengthen Nigeria’s defence leadership.

He added that the appointment is not only a personal achievement for Oluyede but also a moment of pride for the entire state, symbolizing “a deserved recognition of competence and patriotism.”
