Wale Ajetunmobi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that some actions by government officials in Lagos “send wrong signals.”

His comment followed outrage over the state government’s partnership with Nelly Agbogu, creator of Naija Brand Chick, for the Lagos Tourism Trade Fair. Critics online resurfaced Agbogu’s 2023 post describing President Bola Tinubu as “physically and mentally unfit” to run for office, accusing the government of rewarding critics while neglecting loyal party members.
One X user wrote, “Governor Sanwo-Olu only rewards those who insult his government. This is why Tinubu lost Lagos in 2023.” Others echoed similar sentiments, claiming the state’s political reward system undermines party faithful.

Responding to the backlash, Ajetunmobi criticised what he called “unscrupulous Obidient opportunists” benefiting from a government they “openly despise.” He urged the Lagos government to better appreciate its loyal supporters, warning that leniency toward political opponents could backfire.
