Gunmen rob Oyo bank depositor, injure police officer

Gunmen attacked a bank customer and injured a police officer in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. at the Osuntokun area of Ibadan North Local Government.

Eyewitnesses said the victim had been trailed from a bank where he made a withdrawal before being ambushed and robbed of a large sum of money. A police officer on patrol was also severely injured while attempting to stop the robbers.

 

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the attack, stating that the suspects tracked a man driving a metallic grey Nissan Primera (plate number EPE 901 PS) and robbed him of an undisclosed amount. He added that the injured officer is receiving treatment and that no deaths were recorded.

The police have launched an investigation and are urging residents to provide information that could help identify and arrest the culprits.
