President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu I, the Oba of Lagos, on the occasion of his 82nd birthday, describing him as a symbol of stability, wisdom, and continuity in Nigeria’s traditional and civic life.

In a goodwill message, President Tinubu praised the monarch as a steadfast guardian of Lagos’ rich heritage, noting that his reign has preserved the dignity of the Iga Idunganran throne while strengthening ties between traditional leadership and modern governance.
The President lauded Oba Akiolu’s consistent advocacy for justice, unity, and inclusivity among Lagosians, acknowledging that under his two-decade rule, the state has remained a beacon of enterprise, coexistence, and progress in Nigeria and across Africa.

Tinubu also commended the Oba’s earlier service to the nation as a senior officer in the Nigeria Police Force, where he demonstrated discipline and integrity before ascending the throne.
He expressed appreciation for the monarch’s wise counsel to successive governments, his role in promoting development, and his dedication to the welfare of his people.
President Tinubu prayed for continued health, strength, and long life for the Oba of Lagos, describing his reign as a source of pride not only to the people of Lagos but also to the entire nation.
