The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has issued a stern warning to U.S. President Donald Trump over his threat to launch a military invasion of Nigeria.

Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and directed the U.S. Department of War to prepare for possible action, citing alleged persecution of Christians in the country.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a post on his official X account, revealed that ISWAP responded through a propaganda message distributed via its usual communication channels.
In the message, the terrorist group described Trump as a “reckless American tyrant,” claiming his decisions were driven by “evangelical Christian and Jewish advisers.” ISWAP accused the U.S. of trying to position itself as the “global defender of Christians” while committing “crimes against African Muslims.”

The group also cautioned its members to avoid using smartphones, refrain from large gatherings, and reduce movements amid the tension. It further called on Muslims across West Africa to unite and take the alleged U.S. threat seriously.
Trump’s warning to Nigeria has drawn global reactions, with Washington urging the Nigerian government to act swiftly to end religiously motivated violence. However, Nigerian authorities have denied claims of a Christian genocide, maintaining that both Muslims and Christians have been victims of terrorism.
