The Federal Government has announced plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest dining table during the Mega Renewed Hope NIHOTOUR Gastronomy Festival in Abuja this December.

NIHOTOUR Director-General, Dr. Abisoye Fagade, revealed the plan at a press briefing with the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa. Themed “Oriki: Taste of Culture,” the festival will showcase Nigeria’s rich culinary traditions and promote opportunities in hospitality and the creative economy under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Fagade said the event will feature a 3.6-kilometre dining table—longer than Egypt’s current record of 3,189.93 meters—expected to host 2,000 to 3,000 guests. The record attempt will take place on December 6, followed by an evening of communal dining, music, and cultural performances.
He noted that the festival aims to strengthen Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality sectors by training youth, promoting entrepreneurship, and attracting investors.

Minister Musawa described the event as a major step toward economic inclusion and cultural diplomacy, highlighting how Nigerian cuisine helps promote the nation’s identity globally.
President Tinubu is expected to officially launch the festival and oversee the record-breaking attempt in Abuja.
