Governor Alex Otti has approved a major increase in the monthly allowance of NYSC members serving in Abia State, from ₦4,000 to ₦50,000.
The new structure adds to the ₦77,000 federal allowance, with corps members receiving ₦20,000 as a base pay. Those serving in state establishments will get an extra ₦10,000, while teachers and medical personnel will earn an additional ₦30,000.
The state government said the move aims to motivate corps members and bridge manpower gaps in key sectors. It also highlighted Otti’s ongoing support for the NYSC, including the renovation of the Bende orientation camp, road repairs, and installation of power infrastructure.
The statement added that despite the camp being a federal facility, Governor Otti is committed to improving all institutions within Abia, regardless of ownership.
