Fayose Visits Obasanjo in Ogun Ahead of 65th Birthday

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, ahead of his 65th birthday celebration scheduled for November 15.

Photos shared on X by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, showed the two leaders sharing warm moments, suggesting a reconciliation after years of political tension.

In one of the photos, Obasanjo is seen in a white traditional attire with a green cap, playing Ayo, a popular Yoruba board game.

The meeting marks a notable shift in the relationship between both politicians, who had often been on opposing sides in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Fayose’s visit comes days after former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also paid him a courtesy visit. Osinbajo explained that he decided to visit early since he would not be available on Fayose’s birthday.

During the meeting, Osinbajo commended Fayose for his courage and consistency in public life, while Fayose expressed gratitude, describing the visit as a gesture of friendship that transcends political differences.
