Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports claiming he gifted a Toyota SUV to Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima, the naval officer who clashed with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over a land dispute in Abuja.
In a statement on his verified X handle, Atiku, through his media aide Paul Ibe, described the viral social media report as “entirely false and baseless,” urging the public to ignore it.
He clarified that he never gave any vehicle to Yerima or anyone else, calling the story “fabricated and mischievous.”
The rumour followed a viral video showing Wike and Lt. Yerima in a heated exchange over a disputed plot in Gaduwa District, Abuja. The incident has drawn widespread reactions, with several public figures, including former Army Chief Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), calling for calm and respect for institutional authority.
