A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening, November 18, 2025, when armed terrorists invaded a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Eruku, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The attackers opened fire during a church meeting, killing three worshippers and kidnapping many others, including the church pastor.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the premises without warning and began shooting indiscriminately, forcing worshippers to flee in panic. Witnesses confirmed that three people died instantly, while an unknown number of congregants were rounded up at gunpoint and taken away into the bush.

Residents said the assailants escaped through bush paths linking Eruku to neighbouring communities, heightening fear and uncertainty across the town.
That same evening, heavily armed terrorists also launched a separate attack in Eruku town, causing travellers and locals to abandon their vehicles and flee into surrounding bushes. The attackers reportedly advanced into the town while firing continuously, with gunshots echoing across multiple areas.

A traveller caught in the chaos captured a video pleading for urgent security intervention.
“This is 18-11-2025… they started shooting. Everybody has run into the bush,” he said, describing scenes of confusion and abandoned vehicles.
The recent rise in terrorist and bandit activities in Kwara State has left several communities shaken, with repeated attacks claiming lives and disrupting daily activities. Authorities have vowed to track down those behind the latest violence.
