JUST IN: Veteran Journalist And Former Lagos CPS, Bayo Osiyemi Is Dead

Prince Bayo Osiyemi, former Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State’s first civilian governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, has died at the age of 75.

Osiyemi, fondly known as the “Charming Prince,” passed away on Monday, November 24. His family, in a statement signed by Seyi Osiyemi, described him as a beloved father, husband, grandfather and respected community leader, adding that details of his memorial arrangements will be announced soon.

 

Osiyemi previously served as Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and was a former Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area. His career also spanned journalism, where he was Editor of Lagos News, CEO of Penby Communications, and a columnist for The Nation.

Born on February 4, 1950, into the Sisu and Arowosugbo families of Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State, he was named Abdul-Lateef at birth and carried the traditional name Omopeninu.
